Helen Yomine and a group of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff residents who had lived outside the United States founded the Lake Forest International Club on July 2nd, 1981 in the State of Illinois. LFIC was granted a 501 (c) (7) by the IRS in 1982. Membership is open to both, residents of and/or those who work in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. They must either be foreign nationals or Americans who have lived outside the United States for at least two years. Take this opportunity to meet your neighbors who come from many parts of the world or lived overseas.
Eligibility for active full membership is open to all Lake Forest and Lake Bluff residents, who are foreign nationals or Americans who have lived outside the United States for at two years. Membership will be active after The Board has approved the applicant at the first meeting following receiving the application. Current members represent over 50 countries.
Associate members are members, who meet the above requirements except who do not live in the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff postal districts but have close connections with these two communities.
“Active members are defined as members who participate in the Club’s activities and particularly to participate in the fundraiser, which occurs every other year for the purpose of funding our philanthropic projects. Other areas of support may include offering a home for an event, taking reservations for an event, donating food, gathering equipment and helping with decorations and the organization of an event by volunteering to be on a committee.” Excerpt from our current LFIC By-Laws as Article Three Membership section (c)
Annual dues of $50 ($25 after February admission) are required and are to be paid by May 15 of each year in order to participate in the activities organized by the club.
